Introduction

Learning Intention:

This lesson creates a foundation to thought awareness. Children learn about the frequency of thoughts and non-attachment to them. They also learn to slow thoughts down using their breath and let go of thoughts in a visualization. These activities encourage the third element of self-compassion which is Mindfulness vs Over-Identification. This lesson relates to Personal Development Health and Physical Education.

Social and Emotional Development:

Children become comfortable with the idea that having many thoughts is usual. They become self-compassionate when unhelpful thoughts come to mind. They learn that others have similar thought experiences. This enables children to relate to one another and fosters compassion towards others. 

Flourishing Purpose:

Interest. Children becoming interested in noticing their own thoughts.
